Takeuchi Seihō

Takeuchi Seihō (1864–1942) was a painter who contributed greatly to the innovation of Japanese painting. He combined traditional techniques with Western realism, and was known as a master of animal painting. His representative works include "Striped Cat," and he was awarded the Order of Culture in 1937.

Usagi (Rabbits)

Created around 1939, Usagi is one of Takeuchi Seihō’s later works. Seihō kept rabbits at home and carefully observed and sketched their appearance and movements.
