How to make Shigoki
FIG. 1
The arrow indicates the direction of the fabric.
FIG. 2
First, divide it into four in this direction.
FIG. 3
FIG. 4
Apply glue to these and fold them twice to a width of about 5 mm. (Be careful not to apply too much glue!)
Trim off any excess parts.
FIG. 5
Make four of the same thing.
FIG. 6
Fold one of these pieces so that it meets in the center as shown above, and cut off the excess.
Decide the width of the fold based on how it will balance with the obi. This will be the ribbon.
FIG. 7
Next, cut one of the remaining three pieces in half and the other in 1/3 (you won't use the remaining 2/3).
Leave the remaining piece as it is.
FIG. 8
Wrap the string you cut into 1/3 pieces earlier around the butterfly and secure with glue.
When attaching it, be sure that the pretty side is on the front.
FIG. 9
The ribbon part is done.
FIG. 10
FIG. 11
Attach the obi that you just cut in half to the longest uncut string in the order shown above.
FIG. 12
Cut the legs of the string you cut in 2/1 to the appropriate length, and secure the ends with glue to prevent them from unraveling.
Finished product
Then attach a ribbon (butterfly) and let it dry and it's finished.
