Gogatsu Dolls are the special items for Children's Day on May 5th. It is called "Gogatsu-ningyo" or "Yoroi Kabuto" in Japan. Yoroi Kabuto means a helmet and armor. It was important for Samurai during Sengoku period. It could protect Samurai’s body from attacks of enemies and show the personal success. Samurai used to use swords, bows, and arrows to protect their family and community. Now Japanese people don’t need kind of arms, but all parents hope their children’s success and good health with their growth, so they decorate Gogatsu Dolls and celebrate with that mind.
