Takasago dolls

Takasago dolls are dolls given to young couples who are starting a new family.
Why is it necessary to give these old man and old woman dolls to young couples? The reason is that they embody the giver's parental feelings of wanting the couple to live happily and healthily until they become an old, gray-haired couple.
The sender of the Takasago and the time of giving vary depending on the region. In the Tama and Musashino areas where our company is located, the parents from the hometown would give them around February to coincide with the young couple's first Hinamatsuri in March. For this reason, they are also known as gift dolls in this area. Recently, they are often given to coincide with New Year's and other times when families meet.
In areas with a large number of betrothal gifts, such as the Kansai region, Takasagos are often included in the betrothal gifts, and in that case they are given by the bride's family, but the parents' feelings for the young couple are the same whether they are in the bride's family or in the hometown.
There are many regions where it is not customary to give such dolls as gifts, but I think your feelings will be conveyed, so why not give one? Also, for those who have missed the deadline, now is the time to do so. Rather than worrying about it, why not give one?
We do not have many finished products in stock, so in most cases, we make them to order. Delivery will take about one month.

The price of the finished product is the price of the product alone.
The finished product listed on the same page as the doll kit (body, set) is the price of the finished product alone.
Stands, cases, etc. are sold separately.
Most of the products are made to order, so it takes 3 weeks to make. However, during busy periods (January and February), it may take more than a month, so please understand this.
Note: The doll photos are samples, so the costumes may differ slightly from the actual product.
We will use the sample costume or a similar costume as much as possible, but the atmosphere of the fabric may change drastically due to inventory issues.
In such cases, we will notify you in advance. If the image does not differ drastically from the sample, the fabric may change without notice, so please understand this.

Q: What is 3D cutting?
A: It is a method of making dolls without using patterns, by directly placing a large piece of cloth on the doll and cutting it as you go. For more information, please see here.

Q: Why do you recommend 3D cutting?
A: The more advanced you are, the more questions you will have about making dolls with patterns. Even though we have recommended 3D cutting to customers who are used to using patterns for a long time, many of them say they cannot do it even before they make a doll. However, when they actually try making a doll, they find that they can make the direction of the cloth exactly as they want, and many of them say that they have made a wonderful doll. If you can make dolls with patterns, you can definitely make 3D cuts as long as you follow the precautions. In addition, I think it is better for beginners to get used to 3D cutting from the beginning.

Q: Won't there not be enough cloth if you don't use a pattern?
A: Our sets are cut much larger than when using patterns, so I think you will have enough.

Q: What do you do if you run out of cloth?
A: If you send us a note with the missing scraps and how many centimeters they are missing, we will send you the amount you need. (Basically, there is a fee.)

Q: I would like to use fabric that I already have.
A: Kimekomi kits are also available without fabric.

Q: I don't like the fabric in the set.
A: If, for our own reasons, we send you fabric that is different from the one shown on our website, we will exchange it for an equivalent item free of charge if you send us some fabric. If the fabric is the same as the product on our website, there will be a fee for the exchange.

Q: Do I need to have all of the tools listed above to make a doll?
A: You can use an awl for the spatula and sandpaper for the fabric file, but I think it will be easier to make if you have as many tools as possible.

Q: I would like to choose the fabric myself.
A: You can purchase only the body material, and you can purchase the brocade by itself from the brocade page.

Q: I would like to know about the costume before purchasing.
A: Normally we will recommend costumes, and if you have requests we will suggest two or three types.

Q: Can I have the set made from my favorite fabric?
A: There will be an additional 10% fee, but if you select brocade from the brocade page and specify your preferred fabric, we can set the doll in that fabric. Please indicate this when placing your order. Also, depending on the type of brocade, the price of the doll set itself may be higher in addition to the fee. Please note that we may not be able to accommodate very detailed specifications.
