What is Kakejiku

Kakejiku is made from a picture and the frames. The picture is called Honshi. Hyoso means to make the frame for the picture. Hyoso has a function to protect pictures to roll. It means the picture touch nothing when it is rolled with Hyoso. Then, Choosing the materials for Hyoso is very important for Kakejiku. Because, if they had a bad combination, the picture would be spoiled. Then, Hyoso have several styles which are decided for the picture contents, but most of Kakejiku which we introduce here is completed by Hon-Hyoso (one of the styles of Hyoso) excluding Ukiyoe.

Hon-Hyoso
The fabrics of Ichimonji and Chu-mawasi are important for Kakejiku as their Hyoso. The value of the Kakejiku will be different from depending on the fabric for the picture.
